SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Shepherd University department of athletics announces a new partnership agreement with Under Armour, Inc. (NYSE: UA). The Baltimore-based global leader in performance footwear, apparel and equipment will continue to be the official outfitter of Shepherd University.
As part of the multi-year agreement, Under Armour will provide on-field and training gear for 12 varsity sports. Additionally, Under Armour will outfit members of the athletic department including coaches and staff.
"We are excited to continue our partnership with Under Armour as well as our continued preferred provider partnership with Personal Best Athletics (Cumberland, Md.) and BSN Sports (Hagerstown, Md.)," stated Chauncey Winbush, vice president for athletics.
The new official outfitter agreement includes marketing entitlement that will complement Under Armour's brand marketing campaigns through print and venue presence at the University.
The Shepherd athletics teams have enjoyed a great deal of recent success. Over the past two years, six teams have won conference championships, seven teams have made regional appearances, and two teams have garnered regional championships. Additionally, 31 individuals have earned All-American accolades, while three more have gained Academic All-American honors.
Shepherd is a member of the growing Under Armour roster of NCAA partners that includes the University of Wisconsin, University of Notre Dame, Naval Academy Athletic Association, University of Maryland, Texas Tech University, Northwestern University, University of Cincinnati, Boston College, University of Utah, University of South Carolina and Auburn University.
