Shepherd Women's Soccer Edged by #22 West Virginia Wesleyan

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Molly Gorges scored at the 38:30 mark to lift #22 West Virginia Wesleyan (4-0-1, 3-0-0 MEC) to a 1-0 win over Shepherd (0-2-1, 0-1-1 MEC) in MEC women's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday.
 
Junior netminder Christi LaBella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) recorded six saves for the Rams, while Ashlee Schumaker recorded five saves for the Bobcats.
West Virginia Wesleyan had an 11-9 edge  in shots and a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Shepherd outshot West Virginia Wesleyan, 6-4, in the second half, but was unable to score.
 
The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Urban for a 1 p.m. match.
