Box Score JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Shepherd University (0-0-1) battled to a 2-2 tie with Pitt-Johnstown in men's soccer action at Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday afternoon.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead at the 9:52 mark on an unassisted goal by senior midfielder Luis Prado (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Rioclaro/Montgomery College).
UPJ tied the game at the 43:35 mark when Chase Kuhn scored on an assist from D.J. Vogelman.
Shepherd retook the lead when Prado scored on a through ball from junior midfielder Justin Daniels (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) at the 65:19 mark.
The Mountains Cats forced overtime when Vogelman scored on a penalty kick at the 77:36 mark.
Freshman goalkeeper Jacob Dougal (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) recorded four saves for the Rams, while Nate Kleya had 10 saves for the Mountain Cats.
Shepherd had a 20-17 advantage in shots, while Pitt-Johnstown had a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to Lock Haven for a noon contest.
