SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior forward Samantha Leonard (Conowingo, Md./Perryville/Wingate) scored a pair of goals to lead Shepherd (3-2-3, 3-1-3 MEC) to a 2-1 win over Concord (2-4-1, 1-4-1 MEC) in MEC women's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday. Shepherd took a 1-0 lead into the break behind a penalty kick by Leonard at the 1:46 mark. The Rams took a 2-0 lead at the 88:09 mark as Leonard scored on a pass from senior defender Bri Gorman (Clarksburg, Md./Urbana). Concord avoided the shutout when Pilar Elias scored on a feed from Ali Cook at the 89:10 mark. Junior netminder Christi LaBella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) recorded eight saves for the Rams.  Katie Maher had one save for the Mountain Lions. Concord had a 16-10 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Notre Dame College at 3:30 for Youth Soccer Day.
