Shepherd Women’s Soccer Ties Notre Dame

Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –Shepherd (3-2-4, 3-1-4 MEC) battled to a 2-2 tie with Notre Dame (7-1-1, 7-0-1 MEC) in MEC women's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday.

Shepherd took a 1-0 lead when senior midfielder Kayde Gustavel (Kearneysville, W.Va./Washington/West Liberty) scored on an assist from senior forward Samantha Leonard (Conowingo, Md./Perryville/Wingate) at the 49:44 mark.

Notre Dame opened up the second half scoring when Lauren Chaney scored on an assist from Katarina Doncevis at the 56:32 mark.

The Falcons took a 2-1 lead when Na'pier Ramsey scored an unassisted goal at the 58:11 mark.

Shepherd gained the tie on an unassisted goal by senior defender/midfielder Danielle Fernandez (Clarksburg, Md./Damascus) at the 67:30 mark.

Junior netminder Christi LaBella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) recorded five saves for the Rams.  Abigail Quesnelle had four saves for the Falcons.

Shots were even at nine apiece and Notre Dame had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for an 8 p.m. contest.
