URBANA, Ohio – Senior guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored a game-high 25 points, but Urbana (9-5, 7-3 MEC) held on for a 79-78 win over Shepherd (8-8, 4-6 MEC) in MEC women's basketball action at Urbana on Saturday.

Arden hit on 10-of-17 field goals with a 5-of-6 effort from the foul line. She also added a team-high eight assists, five rebounds, and a pair of steals.

Junior guard Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage/Glenville State) added 16 points, senior guard Tiffany McKinney (Edgewater, Md./South River/Anne Arundel CC) had 12, while senior forward Jazmyne Howard (Leesburg, Va./Tuscarora) had a career-high 11.

Freshman forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) posted her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Stephanie Davis and Jazmyn Haley each had 15 points to lead the Blue Knights. Sylvia Hudson added 14 points while Weston Minnich had 11. Davis also handed out a game-high 10 assists.

A close game throughout, Urbana held a 39-38 lead into the break.

Shepherd held a 78-76 advantage after Tibbs connected on 1-of-2 free throws with 1:06 left in regulation. The Blue Knights got a pair of free throws from Davis with 51 seconds left to tie the game at 78-all. Hudson drained 1-of-2 free throws with one second remaining to lift Urbana to the win.

Shepherd shot 46.2 percent (30-65) from the floor with a 38.5 percent effort (5-13) from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 70 percent (14-20) of their free throws.

Urbana hit on 50.9 percent (27-53) from the floor with a 36.4 percent (4-11) performance from beyond the arc. The Blue Knights connected on 87 percent (20-23) of their free throws.

Urbana had a 37-33 edge in rebounds. The Rams forced 10 turnovers and committed 14.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
