BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Matt Bentley scored three goals to lead West Virginia Wesleyan (6-9-2, 5-9-0 MEC) to a 6-0 win over Shepherd (1-17-0, 0-14-0 MEC) in MEC men's soccer action at West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday.
Zach Whiting added a goal and an assist, while Liam Igoe and Luka Faconieri each tallied goals. Andrew Polychroniadi had a pair of assists. Hazuki Hashizume and Mason Benchoff each had single assists.
The Bobcats had a 2-0 lead at halftime behind first-half goals by Igoe and Bentley.
Freshman goalkeeper Jose Machado Orrellana (Falls Church, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) recorded six saves for the Rams. Alex Rittenhouse did not post a save in goal for the Bobcats.
West Virginia Wesleyan had a 23-1 advantage in shots and a 12-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams complete their season.
