WHEELING, W.Va. – Second-seeded Shepherd University (23-9) swept seventh-seeded Notre College (16-17) (28-26, 25-16, 25-15) in MEC Volleyball Tournament quarterfinal action at Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday afternoon.
Junior outside hitter Seone Goode (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) recorded 12 kills with a .450 attack percentage to pace the Rams. Junior outside hitter Peyton Lindblad (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) added 11 kills and three aces, while sophomore middle hitter Nicole Murray (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) had 10 kills and four blocks.
Senior setter Becca Kern (Martinsburg, W.Va./Musselman) contributed 45 assists and junior libero Imani Major (Gainesville, Va./Millbrook) posted a match-high 20 digs.
Mary Kate McHugh had 15 kills and 11 digs to lead the Falcons. Alexandra Kaeberlein added 16 digs.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they face third-seeded Charleston at 5 p.m. in tournament semifinal action at Wheeling Jesuit.
Notes: Shepherd ran its win streak to four matches … the Rams advanced to the MEC Tournament semifinals (2013, 2014, 2015, 2018) for the fourth time in program history … Shepherd's 23 wins tie last year's win total.
