Box Score WISE, Va. – Bianca Lockamy had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead UVa-Wise (5-18, 4-14 MEC) to a 68-50 win over Shepherd University (11-13, 7-11 MEC) in MEC women's basketball action at UVa-Wise on Saturday.
Senior guard
Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored a game-high 16 points to pace the Rams.
Junior guard
Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage/Glenville State) added 11 points, while freshman forward
Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) posted her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Junior guard
Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) added eight points, five boards, and four steals.
Cynita Webb added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Cavaliers. Kalee Johnson had 10 points, six boards, and four blocked shots.
UVa-Wise took a 2-1 lead after a layup by Adalmaryz Gomez with 8:35 left in the first period and never looked back.
Shepherd shot 24.6 percent (16-65) from the floor with a 25 percent effort (4-16) from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 58.3 percent (14-24) of their free throws.
UVa-Wise hit on 44.8 percent (26-58) from the floor with a 35.7 percent (5-14) performance from beyond the arc. The Cavaliers connected on 84.6 percent (11-13) of their free throws.
UVa-Wise had a 56-30 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 18 turnovers and committed six.
The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host West Virginia State for a 5:30 p.m. contest
