Box Score GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Darhius Nunn and Jon Dunmeyer each scored 19 points to lead Glenville State (7-20, 5-16 MEC) to a 72-65 win over Shepherd University (16-11, 12-9 MEC) in MEC men's basketball action at Glenville State on Wednesday night.=
Sophomore guard Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Rams. Davis connected on 9-of-14 field goals with a 5-of-8 effort from three-point range.
Senior forward AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./St. James School) added 18 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
Brooks Ely added 13 points and grabbed nine boards for the Pioneers. Theo Brown added nine points, while Dwayne Chastain Jr had eight.
Glenville State had a 41-29 lead at halftime as Nunn (12), Dunmeyer, Ely, and Chastain (8 each) combined for 36 first-half points.
Shepherd rallied to within three points at 63-60 after a three-pointer by junior guard Derek McKnight (Teaneck, NJ/Gaston (N.C.) Day School/Louisburg CC) with 2:49 left in the game. The Pioneers got a layup from Dunmeyer and hit 5-of-6 free throws in the game's final minutes to seal the win.
Shepherd connected on 46 percent (23-50) from the floor with a 39.1 percent (9-23) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit on 71.4 percent (10-14) of their free throws.
Glenville State shot 49 percent (25-51) from the floor with a 40.9 percent effort (9-22) from three-point range. The Pioneers shot 72.2 percent (13-18) from the charity stripe.
Shepherd had a 30-28 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 12 turnovers and committed 15.
The Rams wrap up regular season play on Saturday when they host Fairmont State for Senior Day at 4 p.m.
