Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Alana Cardaci scored three goals to lead Shippensburg (1-1) to a 14-6 win over Shepherd (0-2) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Friday.
Shepherd was led by senior midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and freshman attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley) each scored a pair of goals to pace the Rams.
Sophomore attacker Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) and sophomore midfielder Elishia Davis (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) each added a goal. Funke also added a game-high seven draw controls.
Madi Newman, Morgan Stone and Kyra Shank each had a pair of goals for the Raiders, Allison Fugate added a goal and two assists.
The Raiders had a 9-4 advantage at halftime as Cardaci recorded two first-half tallies.
Shippensburg had a 29-22 advantage in ground balls, while Shepherd had a 13-9 edge in draw controls. Shepherd was 15-of-22 in clears, while Shippensburg was 18-of-22. Shippensburg had a 37-27 advantage in shots.
Junior goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) had 11 saves for the Rams, while KiKi Brasher recorded 10 saves for the Raiders.
The Rams return to action on March 3 when they host Alderson Broaddus for a 1 p.m. contest for Meet the Rams Day.
