SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior guard Morgan Arden (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) scored a game-high 21 points to lead Shepherd University (14-14, 10-12 MEC) to a 74-64 win over Fairmont State (15-13, 10-12 MEC) in MEC women's basketball action on Senior Day at the Butcher Center on Saturday.

Arden connected on 7-of-14 field goals with a 1-of-1 effort from three-point range. She was 6-of-7 from the line. Arden needs three points to break the Shepherd single-season scoring mark of 615 points set by Sherry Price in 1985-86.

Junior guard Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) added 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

Junior guard Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage/Glenville State) added 12 points, while senior guard Tiffany McKinney (Edgewater, Md./South River/Anne Arundel CC) contributed eight points and nine rebounds.

Brooke Kurucz and Sierra Kotchman each scored 19 points to lead the Fighting Falcons. Kelli Jo Harrison added 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Shepherd held a 57-42 lead at halftime as Arden (11) and Tibbs (7) teamed for 18 first-half points for the Rams. The Rams outscored the Falcons 24-7 in the second period en route to the win.

Shepherd shot 42.1 percent (24-57) from the floor with a 33.3 percent effort (4-12) from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 68.8 percent (22-32) of their free throws.

Fairmont State hit on 36.4 percent (20-55) from the floor with a 17.6 percent (3-17) performance from beyond the arc. The Falcons connected on 80.8 percent (21-26) of their free throws.

Shepherd had a 40-38 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 14 turnovers and committed 16.

The eighth-seeded Rams return to action on Wednesday when they face ninth-seeded Concord in first round action of the MEC Tournament at 2:15 p.m. at the Charleston Civic Center.
