Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore guard Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) and senior forward AJ Carr (Fairfax, Va./St. James School) each scored 21 points to lead Shepherd University (14-8, 10-6 MEC) to a 93-68 win over Urbana (5-16, 3-12 MEC) in MEC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Lang hit on 7-of-11 field goals with a 5-of-8 performance from three-point range. He was 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. He added five assists and three steals.
Carr connected on 7-of-13 field goals with a 3-of-6 performance from beyond the arc. He was 4-of-5 from the line. Carr also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to post his 11th double-double of the season.
Senior guard Steffen Davis (Accokeek, Md./Maret School) added 16 points, while junior guard Derek McKnight (Teaneck, NJ/Gaston (N.C.) Day School/Louisburg CC) scored 11 points.
Malik Jacobs scored 17 points to pace the Blue Knights. Roy Hatchett, AJ Washington, and Carlas Jackson each had 10 points. Jackson also grabbed a team-high five boards.
Shepherd took the lead for good at 12-11 on a three-pointer by Lang with 14:36 left in the first half.
The Rams had a 42-26 lead at the break as Carr (11) and Lang (9) combined for 19 first-half points.
Shepherd connected on 57.4 percent (31-54) from the floor with a 53.6 percent (15-28) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit on 80 percent (16-20) of their free throws.
Urbana shot 50 percent (24-48) from the floor with a 31.3 percent effort (5-16) from three-point range. The Blue Knights shot 68.2 percent (15-22) from the charity stripe.
Shepherd had a 30-24 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 10 turnovers and committed eight.
The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Concord for a 4 p.m. contest.
