SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (7-5, 2-1 MEC) handed UVa-Wise (2-10, 0-4 MEC) a 5-4 setback in MEC men's tennis action at Cress Creek on Sunday.

Sophomore Carter Davis (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Martinsburg) posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at number one singles and teamed with freshman Evan Dokken (Winchester, Va./James Wood) for an 8-5 win at number one doubles to lead the Rams.

Shepherd also got singles wins from senior Austin Thomas (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) at number five and junior Clayton Smith (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) at number six. Thomas and senior Lewis Charette (Atlanta Ga./Pike County) teamed for a victory at number three doubles.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Virginia State for an 11 a.m. match.
