Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Downs Ursuline for Second Straight Win

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) had career highs of six goals and three assists to lead Shepherd (2-2) to a 23-12 win over Ursuline (1-2) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Tuesday.

Freshman attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley) added four goals and five assists, while sophomore attacker/midfielder  Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) had four goals and three assists. Funke established a Shepherd single-game mark with 14 draw controls. She broke the old mark of nine set by Nicole Ruane against Howard on Feb. 19, 2012.

Sophomore midfielder Elishia Davis (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) added three goals and an assist, while freshman attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) netted three goals. Sophomore attacker Jordan Sauro (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Shippensburg), sophomore attacker Megan Dusci Walkersville, Md./Walkersville/Frederick CC) and senior defender Anna Munford (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) each scored a goal.

Natalie Nowicki had four goals and one assist to pace the Arrows. Sarah Bader and Cydney Bartlett each added two goals and two assists.

Shepherd had a 13-6 lead at halftime as Wendt led the Rams with five first-half tallies.

Shepherd had a 35-27 edge in ground balls and a 21-16 advantage in draw controls. Shepherd was 27-of-30 in clears, while Ursinus was 20-of-30. Shepherd had a 40-33 advantage in shots.

Senior goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) had 10 saves for the Rams, while Emily Hall recorded eight saves for the Arrows.

The Rams return to action on March 13 when they travel to Newberry for a 3 p.m. contest.
