Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore midfielder Elishia Davis (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) scored four goals to lead Shepherd (5-4, 1-0 MEC) to a 14-11 win over West Virginia Wesleyan (5-5-1, 0-1 MEC) in MEC women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Sunday.
Freshman attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley) added three goals and an assist, while sophomore attacker/midfielder Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) had two goals and a pair of assists. Senior midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and sophomore attacker Emily Brown (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) each contributed a goal and an assist. Funke added a game-high six ground balls, while Wendt recorded a game-high eight draw controls.
Sophomore attacker Megan Dusci Walkersville, Md./Walkersville/Frederick CC), freshman attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown), and sophomore attacker Jordan Sauro (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Shippensburg) each recorded single goals.
Hannah Antonelli had four goals and an assist to lead West Virginia Wesleyan. Natalie Schaffner and Madison Duvall each had three goals and an assist.
Shepherd took a 7-5 lead into the break as six different players found the back of the net in the first half for the Rams.
Shepherd had a 38-31 edge in shots and a 16-11 edge in draw controls. The Rams had a 26-23 advantage in ground balls. Shepherd was 19-of-27 in clears, while West Virginia Wesleyan was 20-of-28.
Senior goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) had 13 saves for the Rams, while Gabrielle Cleaveland recorded 16 saves for the Bobcats.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a 5 p.m. match.
