Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Handles Notre Dame

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Sophomore attacker/midfielder Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) scored three goals and added two assists to lead Shepherd (6-5, 2-1 MEC) to a 19-2 win over Notre Dame (3-10, 0-4 MEC) in MEC women's lacrosse action at Notre Dame on Sunday.

Senior midfielder Sarah Wendt (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and freshman attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley) each had three goals and an assist, while sophomore attacker Jordan Sauro (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Shippensburg) netted three goals. Freshman attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) posted two goals and two assists and sophomore midfielder Elishia Davis (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) netted a pair of goals.

Sophomore attacker Megan Dusci Walkersville, Md./Walkersville/Frederick CC), sophomore attacker Emily Brown (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial), and freshman attacker Alissa Adams (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills) each added single tallies.

Natalia Gardner and Blaike Windsor each had a goal for Notre Dame.

Shepherd had a 13-0 lead at the break.

Shepherd had a 30-8 in shots and a 15-7 in draw controls. The Rams had a 12-10 advantage in ground balls. Shepherd was 15-of-17 in clears, while Notre Dame was 13-of-19.

Senior goalkeeper Casey Hickman (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) recorded five saves for the Rams, while Morgan Belting posted nine saves for the Falcons.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Charleston for a 4 p.m. contest at Ram Stadium.
