LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Traci Kromko reached on a fielder's choice to plate Olivia Hall in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Lock Haven (37-12) to a 1-0 win over Shepherd University (33-19) in first day action of the Atlantic 1 Region Softball Tournament at Lawrence Field on Thursday.

Shepherd loaded the bases in the sixth but was unable to score.

Lock Haven threatened in the bottom of the frame but stranded a pair of runners.

The Lady Eagles had a runner at third with one out in the eighth, but Sturgill got a groundout and a fly out to end the threat.

Junior outfielder Morgan Cox (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) and freshman second baseman Leann Brown (Hume, Va./Fauquier) each had a pair of hits for the Rams.

Junior pitcher Lori Sturgill (8.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 4 K, 4 BB) (14-8) took the loss for the Rams. Bekah Slattery (9.0 IP, 5 H, 6 K, 4 BB) (19-5) gained the win for the Lady Eagles.

Fifth-seeded Shepherd will face eighth-seeded Chowan at 1:30 p.m. while Lock Haven will face top-seeded West Chester at 11 am on Friday.
