Shepherd Baseball Falls to Seton Hill at Regionals

WEST LAWN, Pa. – Seton Hill (32-20) posted a 4-0 win over Shepherd University (38-16) in NCAA Division II Baseball Atlantic Regional Championship action at Owls Field at Ted Palka Park on Thursday afternoon. The game was initially slated as an 11 a.m. start, but a rain delay pushed back the start to 3 p.m.

Seton Hill took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. Chris Law walked, stole second, and moved to third on a wild pitch. Law scored from third when Ryan Grieco got caught in a rundown attempting to steal second.

The Griffins added a run in the fifth on a solo blast to left by Colton Carney.

Seton Hill added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth behind a sacrifice fly from Carney and an RBI-single off the bat of Carl Turner.

Tyler Sullivan led the Griffins with a 2-for-4 effort.

Senior third baseman Chase Hoffman (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and sophomore first baseman Christian Hamel (Pasadena, Md./IMG Academy) each hit doubles for the Rams.

Junior starter Ryan Potts (Owings, Md./Northern) (7.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 7 K, 3 BB) (11-2) took the loss for the Rams. Patrick Monteverde (7.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 5 K, 1 BB) (4-2) picked up the win with Kenny Wells (1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K, 0 BB) earning his fifth save of the season.

The Rams return to action on Friday at 11 a.m. at Owls Field at Ted Palka Park when they face the loser of today's Charleston-Millersville game.
