SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Thomas King scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Bloomsburg (1-0-0) to a 2-0 win over Shepherd University (0-1-0) in the season opener for both schools in men's soccer action at Shepherd on Thursday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, the Huskies took a 1-0 lead when King scored on a pass from Carter Luckenbaugh at the 48:25 mark.
Bloomsburg added a late goal when Matt Goodall scored off a corner kick by King at the 84:21 mark.
Freshman goalkeeper Jose Machado Orellana (Falls Church, Va./J.E. B. Stuart) posted nine saves for the Rams, while Trey Orner recorded three saves for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg had a 23-5 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Shippensburg for a 3 p.m. contest.
