HILTON HEAD, S.C. --  The Shepherd University tennis teams dropped a pair of matches at Hilton Head on Sunday. The Shepherd men (0-1) dropped a 6-3 decision to Gettysburg College (4-1), while East Stroudsburg (2-3) posted a 5-2 win over the Shepherd women (1-1).

Junior Carter Davis (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Martinsburg) posted a 6-1, 6-0 at number one singles and teamed with sophomore Evan Dokken (Winchester, Va./James Wood) for a 6-3 win at number one doubles to lead the men. Senior Clayton Smith (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) posted a win at number three singles when Gettysburg's Kevin Maier had to withdraw in the second set.

Senior Anna Bock (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) posted a 6-2, 7-6 (3-2) win at number two singles. Sophomore Valentina Preciado-Bello (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) and freshman Claire Dean (Church Hill, Md./Queen Anne's County) posted a 6-2 victory at number three doubles.

Both teams return to action on Monday when they face Catholic at Hilton Head.
