SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University tennis teams split a pair of matches with Concord at Shepherd on Thursday. The Shepherd women (3-9, 1-4 MEC) gained a 7-0 triumph, while the men (2-10, 1-4 MEC) dropped a 6-1 decision.
Seniors
Anna Bock (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) ,
Olivia Scott (Stephens City, Va./Sherando), and
Nicolette Bruley (Centreville, Va./Westfield) along with sophomore
Valentina Preciado-Bello (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) posted on-the-court singles wins, while seniors
Zoie O'Neal (Hagerstown, Md./Clear Spring) and freshman
Claire Dean (Church Hill, Md./Queen Anne's County) notched default wins.
Bock and Scott teamed for a win at number one doubles and Preciado-Bello and Dean combined for a triumph at number two doubles. Bruley and O'Neal gained a defulat win at number three doubles.
The Shepherd men got a 6-1, 6-1 win from junior
Carter Davis (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Martinsburg) at number one singles.
The Shepherd men and women return to action on Saturday when they host West Virginia State for a 1 p.m. match.
