KNOXVILLE, Md. – The Shepherd University men's and women's cross country teams participated at the Hood College Open on Saturday. The Shepherd men's team finished 9th in a 18-team field in the 8K event, while the women's team had four competitors in the 5K event.
The men were led by junior Stephen Rivera (Kearneysville, W.Va./Home Schooled) who finished 46th with a time of 30:58.1. He was followed by freshman Noah Cupp (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) (55th, 31:32.5), senior Hunter Reed (Martinsburg, W.Va./Musselman) (76th, 33:00.4), freshman James Burdock (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) (82nd, 33:17.3), and freshman Jonathan Weller (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills) (83rd, 33:20.7).
Freshman Janette Salvador (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) led the Rams as she finished 39th with a time of 23:19.6. She was followed by senior Mahayana Garcia (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) (55th, 25:00.1), junior Anna Berwanger (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) (87th,28:06.1), and sophomore Elizabeth Rea (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) (99th, 31:33.1).
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Kutztown for the PSAC Championship.
