KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's and women's cross country teams participated at the PSAC Championships on Friday at Kutztown University. The Shepherd men's team finished 16th in a 16-team field in the 8K event, while the women's team had four competitors in the 6K event. Edinboro won the women's event with Sydney Wolf of Seton Hill taking individual honors. Edinboro also took the men's competition with Chayce Macknair of Shippensburg winning individual honors.
The men were led by junior Daniel Burton (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) who finished 91st with a time of 29:59.5. He was followed by freshman Noah Cupp (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) (94th, 30:23.6), freshman James Burdock (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) (103rd, 31:53.7), senior Hunter Reed (Martinsburg, W.Va./Musselman) (106th, 32:26.7), junior Stephen Rivera (Kearneysville, W.Va./Home Schooled)(107th, 32:37.9), and freshman Jonathan Weller (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills) (108th, 32:51.8).
Freshman Janette Salvador (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) led the Rams as she finished 161st with a time of 29:08.8. She was followed by senior Mahayana Garcia (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) (165th, 29:28.5), junior Anna Berwanger (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) (175th, 32:08.4), and sophomore Elizabeth Rea (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) (178th, 37:14.6).
