SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shepherd University (18-2, 7-1 PSAC East) dropped a four-set decision to Shippensburg (9-13, 3-5 PSAC East) in PSAC East volleyball action at Shippensburg on Friday night. The Raiders posted a 25-23, 25-15, 24-26, 25-21 victory. Shepherd's win streak was halted at 17 matches. The 17-match streak was one shy of the Shepherd record 18-match streak set in 2019.
Sophomore outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) had 11 kills, while senior middle hitter Georgia Ohmke (Falls Church, Va./Justice) and junior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) each added 10 to pace the Rams. Ohmke added eight blocks and Rakestraw contributed five.
Sophomore setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) recorded 34 assists and nine digs. Hoy also posted a team-high 14 digs and redshirt-freshman defensive specialist/libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) had 13.
Emily Gardner had 18 kills and Kay Negron added 15 for the Raiders. Alex Leitner added 16 digs.
The Rams return to action next Friday when they host East Stroudsburg for a 7 p.m. match.
