SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University dropped a pair of tennis matches to Davis & Elkins at Shepherd today. Davis and Elkins gained a 7-0 win in the men's competition and a 5-2 victory in women's action.
The Shepherd women's team got a pair of singles wins. Junior Morgan Burner (Winchester, Va./James Wood) posted a 6-1, 7-5 win at number four singles, while sophomore Johnna Smith (Buckhannon, W.Va./Buckhannon-Upshur) recorded a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at number five singles.
Both teams fall to 1-1 on the season.
The teams return to action on Oct. 20 when they host Marymount for a 2:30 p.m. match.
