EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Shepherd University (24-4) dropped a 3-0 decision to Gannon (28-5) in semifinal action of the PSAC Volleyball Tournament action at East Stroudsburg on Friday evening. Gannon posted a 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 win.
Junior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) recorded 10 kills and eight digs to lead the Rams. Junior outside hitter Kiara Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) added five kills and 11 digs
Junior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) paced the Rams with four blocks.
Sophomore setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) had 14 assists and eight digs, while redshirt-freshman defensive specialist/libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded a match-high 18 digs.
Lauren Sampson had 15 kills and Ashley McClung added 10 to lead the Golden Knights. Ashley Byers added 13 digs, while Kenzie Lasher contributed 11.
Gannon advances to the final tomorrow against the winner of the later semifinal contest between Clarion and East Stroudsburg.
