SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior Serafina Maerten (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills) of the Shepherd University women's golf team has been selected to the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.
Chi Alpha Sigma is a non-profit organization established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. The honor society is the first and only academic fraternity that specifically recognizes four-year collegiate student-athletes for their athletic and academic successes.
Student-athletes honored must meet the following criteria:
- Participated in their sport and be in good standing with their team.
- Achieve junior standing (or higher) any time after the completion of their fifth (5th) full-time semester.
- Transfer student-athletes must serve one year in residence at their current institution before being eligible for induction.
- Earned a 3.40 cumulative GPA or higher.
- GPA may be verified by any individual who has the authority to review this information in each chapter.
- Be of good character, as determined by each chapter in consultation with their coach and athletics staff.
