WEST CHESTER, Pa. –  Shepherd University (18-5, 14-4 PSAC East) swept a pair of games with West Chester (10-4, 8-4 PSAC East) in PSAC softball doubleheader action at West Chester on Saturday. The Rams posted an 11-6 victory in game one and added a 9-8 win in nine innings in the nightcap. 

Shepherd used a 13-hit attack en route to the game one win.  

Sophomore designated player Cameron Davis (Ayden, N.C./South Central/UNC Pembroke) went 3-for-5 with five RBI to pace the Rams.  

Senior second baseman Leann Brown (Hume, Va./Fauquier) and junior third baseman Nicole Purtell (Centreville, Va./Centreville) each added 3-for-4 efforts with three runs scored and a run batted in. 

Courtney Stump and Madison Melvin each went 2-for-3 for the Golden Rams. Annamarie Hartman added a three-run homer. 

Sophomore pitcher Katie Laing (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) (6.1 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 2 K, 3 BB) (6-2) gained the win. Jen Hanshaw (4.0 IP, 6 H, 7 ER, 0 K, 3 BB) (4-2) took the loss. 

After West Chester rallied with five runs in the sixth in the nightcap to tie the game at 8-all, Davis led off with a double in the ninth and was replaced by freshman pinch-runner Blake Conner (Stephens City, Va./Sherando). Freshman outfielder Isabella Forte (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) followed with a double to plate Conner with the game-winner. 

Senior shortstop Ashley Burger (Hedgesville, W.Va./Spring Mills) and Forte each had three hits for the Rams. Sophomore outfielder Hannah Beeler (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) added a 2-for-5 effort with three RBI. 

Grace Aguilar had a pair of hits to lead the Golden Rams. 

Junior pitcher Sarah Lamper (Marshall, Va./Fauquier) (3.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 Ks, 1 BB) (5-1) earned the win. Summer Williams (5.1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 K, 0 BB) (0-1) took the loss. 

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Millersville for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader.
