ROANOKE, W.Va. – The Shepherd University men's golf team shot a first-round total of 318 and currently sit in eighth place in a 14-team field at the Davis & Elkins Invitational at the Stonewall Resort. The two teams representing Davis & Elkins have the first-round lead with a 300. Evan Lewis of Davis & Elkins fired a 68 to take the first-round lead. 

Senior Mason Kidwell (Charles Town, W.Va.) (77, T-22nd) fired a first-day total of 73 to tie for fifth place to pace the Rams. He was followed by senior Tyler Potts (Owings, Md./Northern/College of Southern Maryland) (77, T-15th), sophomore Chris Neighbors (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (81, T-46th), junior Tyler Hardy (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (87, T-71st), and freshman Koke Dolce (Spicewood, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic Academy) (89, T-78th). 

The Rams return to action on Tuesday for final round action.
