SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sincere Kato scored off a rebounded shot at the 112:47 mark to lift Goldey-Beacom (1-1) to a 3-2 win over Shepherd (0-1) in men's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead on a goal by freshman forward Andrew West (Annandale, Va./Carlisle {Pa.}) at the 7:49 mark.
Goldey-Beacom tied the game at the 13:55 mark when Dominique Ojeil scored on a feed from Patrick Short.
The Lightning took a 2-1 lead when Patrick Stolze scored on a pass from Oliver Person.
Shepherd answered back when junior forward Steven Zeballos Choque (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) scored on a pass from junior forward Bido Elmasry (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) at the 41:55 mark.
Senior netminder Jose Machado Orellana (Falls Church, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) recorded five saves for the Rams. Zander Omans posted eight saves for the Lightning.
Shepherd had a 22-10 advantage in shots and an 8-7 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Felician for a 1 p.m. contest
