BELLE VERNON, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's golf team shot a first-round total of 284 to tie for fifth in a 16-team field at the Vulcan Invitational at the Cedarbrook Golf Course on Sunday. Davis & Elkins holds the first-day lead with a total of 276. 

Senior Mason Kidwell (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) led the Rams as he fired a 63 to take the first-round lead. He was followed by sophomore Chris Neighbors (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) and junior Tyler Hardy (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) who each carded a 72 to tie for 36th place. They were followed by senior Tyler Potts (Owings, Md./Northern/College of Southern Maryland) (77, T-85th) and freshman Koke Dolce (Spicewood, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic Academy) (85, T-115th). 

The Rams finish the two-day event on Monday.
