SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior guard Abby Beeman (Ridgeley, W.Va./Frankfort) scored 28 points and graduate student forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) posted a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lead Shepherd University (16-3, 10-3 PSAC) to an 82-56 win over West Chester (6-12, 4-8 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Monday night. Beeman (1,002) went over 1,000 points for her career, while Clayton (1,500) reached the 1,500-point mark
Beeman also dished out eight assists.
Graduate student guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) scored 23 points, grabbed eight boards, and tied West Chester's Morgan Warley with a game-high two steals.
Rachel Conran had nine points and Leah Johnson added eight points and three assist to lead the Golden Rams
Shepherd had a 39-30 advantage at the break.
Shepherd shot 48.3 percent (29-60) from the floor with a 39.1 percent effort (9-23) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 93.8 percent (15-16) of their free throws.
West Chester hit on 30.2 percent (19-63) from the floor with a 35 percent effort (7-20) from three-point range for the game. The Golden Rams connected on 68.8 percent (11-16) of their free throws.
West Chester had a 41-37 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced 10 turnovers and committed 10. Each team had five steals
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to West Chester for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
