ERIE, Pa. – Shepherd University (21-7) dropped a four-set match to Clarion (26-3) in semifinal action of the PSAC Volleyball Championship Tournament action at Gannon on Saturday. The Golden Eagles earned a 21-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-21 victory. Shepherd saw its 13-match winning streak come to an end.
Senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) had 16 kills and 13 digs to pace the Rams. Sophomore middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) added nine kills, while senior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) had eight.
Junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) added 30 assists and eight digs. Redshirt-sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded 18 digs and a pair of aces while freshman middle hitter Jianna Scott (Bolivar, N.Y./Boiivar-Richmond) posted a match-high seven blocks.
Julie Piccolino had 18 kills and nine digs to lead Clarion. Cassidy Snider added 15 kills.
Clarion advances to the tournament finals on Sunday.
