MANSFIELD, Pa. – Scott Woodring scored 17 points and Jaz Farrell added 13 to lead Mansfield (5-23, 4-17 PSAC) to a 75-68 win over Shepherd University (12-16, 8-14 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Mansfield on Saturday.
Senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) led the Rams with 16 points. Sophomore guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) was also in double figures with 12 points
Freshman forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) grabbed a team-high six rebounds, while senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) and freshman guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) each added five.
Mansfield had a 36-32 lead at the half.
Marcus Friend and Justice Smith each added 11 points for the Mountaineers.
Shepherd connected on 44.3 percent (27-61) from the floor with a 37 percent (10-27) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 50 percent (4-8) of their free throws.
Mansfield shot 47.3 percent (26-55) from the floor with a 40 percent effort (10-25) from three-point range. The Mounties shot 86.7 percent (13-15) from the foul line.
Mansfield had a 35-32 rebounding edge. Each team had nine turnovers.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they hit the road to take on West Chester at 7 p.m. for first round action of the PSAC Tournament.
