Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Shepherd University (4-9) dropped a pair of games at The Spring Games in Florida on Friday. Shepherd came up short on a 2-1 decision to New Haven (5-7) in the early game and no information is available on the later game against Hillsdale (9-14).

Shepherd took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as junior catcher  Alex Mantz (Edinburg, Va./Central) singled and later scored on a ground out by junior outfielder Hannah Beeler.(Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim).

New Haven tied the game in the fifth Selena Aponte walked and was replaced by pinch-runner Ashanti Truelsen. Truelsen stole second and later scored on a single by Hailey Laforte.

The Chargers scored the game-winner in the sixth on an RBI-single by Melissa Bike.

Aponte  (7.0 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 4 K, 3 BB) (4-2) gained the win for New Haven. Sophomore pitcher Hannah Ruffner (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 K, 2 BB) (1-4) took the loss.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they face Le Moyne at 9 a.m. and Dominican at 11:15 a.m.
