CROFTON, Md. – The Shepherd University golf teams completed first-round action at the Crofton Invitational at the Crofton Country Club on Monday. The men shot a first-round total of 320 to currently place sixth on a 10-team field. Mercyhurst holds the team lead with a 308. Three members of the women's team competed for the Rams. Host California (Pa.) shot a 332 to take the first-round lead for the women.
Senior Mason Kidwell (Charles Town, W.Va.) fired a first-round total of 78 to tie for 10th place to pace the Rams. He was followed by senior Tyler Potts (Owings, Md./Northern/College of Southern Maryland) and by junior Tyler Hardy (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) who each fired an 80 to tie for 22nd place. Sophomore Chris Neighbors (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) fired an 82 (T-36th) and freshman Koke Dolce (Spicewood, Texas/St. Michael's Catholic Academy) added a 92 (62nd).
Sophomore Alexis Parrotte (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) and classmate Amanda Deener (Middletown, Md./Frederick Christian Academy Homeschool Umbrella Program) each fired a 95 to tie for 17th place. They were followed by sophomore Ciara Scafide (Knoxville, Md./Brunswick) (116, 23rd).
The teams return to action on Tuesday for final round action.
