Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Tops Kutztown on Senior Day

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (5-11, 3-9 PSAC East)  scored a season-high 20 goals en route to a 20-17 win over Kutztown (4-13, 1-11 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action on Senior Day at Ram Stadium on Saturday. 

Sophomore midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) had five goals and an assist, while senior attacker Katherine Campbell (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) had three goals and a game-high six assists to pace the Rams. Sophomore midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) added four goals, a team-high five ground balls, and a match-high 13 draw controls. 

Senior midfielder/defender Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) added two goals and an assist, while graduate student attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) and freshman midfielder Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) each tallied a pair of goals.       

Senior midfielder Maddison Young (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) and senior midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) each scored a goal. Sophomore attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep) had two assists and 10 draw controls, while senior attacker Haleigh Piccolo (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) posted an assist. 

Olivia Eilbacher had five goals to lead the Golden Bears. Emma Meakim, Sam Graf, and Lailah ElBouazzaoui each added three tallies.            

The game was tied at halftime, 8-8. 

Shepherd outscored Kutztown 9-4 in the fourth quarter pull away for the win. 

Senior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded nine saves for the Rams. Jenna Blesson (10) and Fiona Henderson (2) combined for 12 saves for the Golden Bears. 

Shepherd had a 45-33 edge in shots with a 32-26 advantage in shots on goal. Shepherd was 15-of-20 in clears while Kutztown was 20-of-26. The Rams had a 31-10 edge in draw controls, while Kutztown had a 23-21 advantage in ground balls.
