LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Senior third baseman Nicole Purtell (Centreville, Va./Centreville) and junior designated player Cameron Davis (Ayden, N.C./South Central/UNC Pembroke) of the Shepherd University softball team have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA II All-Atlantic Region Team. 

Purtell, a second team selection, led the Rams with a .426 batting average with 55 hits in a 129 at-bats. Her 55 hits, 36 runs scored, 10 doubles, and five triples lead the team. She also boasts a team-best .493 on base percentage and tops the team in stolen bases (14), walks drawn (17), and hit-by-pitch (3). Purtell was a first team selection in 2021. 

Davis, a second team choice, recorded a .388 batting average with 45 hits in 116 at-bats. Her 11 home runs and 37 RBI topped the team. She also scored 24 runs and has added seven doubles and a triple. She also paces the team in slugging percentage (.750) and OPS (1.205). Davis was a first team selection in 2021.  

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted on the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2022 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
