SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University Vice President for Athletics Chauncey Winbush announced today that Mark Warren has been named Assistant Athletics Director for External Affairs.
"We are excited to welcome Mark to our administration team," said Winbush. "This position is critical to the success of our department and I believe Mark will provide the energy and professionalism required to be successful in this role."
Warren comes to Shepherd from a position as an account executive for corporate relations and group sales for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club. He was involved with sales and customer service, event negotiations, license agreements, and operations with local businesses for the Kinston Wood Ducks. He managed a diverse portfolio of accounts that led to the Wood Ducks being ranked in the top 10 in minor league valuation.
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to work for this department," said Warren. "My focus will be on working with Chauncey to elevate our programs to new heights and to serve our student-athletes at the highest level."
Warren holds more than 15 years of experience as a sports management professional. His experience includes coaching, sport pedagogy, business management, marketing, and sport administration. He gained Division I athletics administrative experience at The University of Georgia.
He previously served our country as a member of the United States Navy for more than eight years.
Warren holds a bachelor's degree in education, sports management from Georgia. He also gained a master's degree in kinesiology, sports management from Georgia.
