EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Shepherd (18-22-1, 10-13-1 PSAC East) dropped a 6-1 decision to East Stroudsburg (34-15, 15-9 PSAC East) in PSAC East baseball action at East Stroudsburg on Sunday.
Senior designated hitter Connor DeWees (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) hit a solo home run in the first inning to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
East Stroudsburg took a 2-1 lead in the second as Tommy Dunleavy hit an RBI-triple and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Tim Haverstick.
An RBI-triple by Anthony Torreullas in the third gave the Warriors a 3-1 advantage.
East Stroudsburg added a pair of runs in the sixth as Brainy Rojas had an RBI-double and later scored on an error.
The Warriors completed the scoring in the eighth as Jeremy Piatkiewicz led off with a double and later scored on a ground out by Ben Piripavel.
Graduate student outfielder Daniel Keer (Lehighton, Pa./Marian Catholic) went 2-for-3 to lead the Rams.
Piatkiewicz went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored to pace the Warriors.
Chase Nowak (6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 K, 3 BB) (7-0) picked up the win for East Stroudsburg. Redshirt-senior pitcher Nick Trabacchi (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West/UMBC) (5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 3 K, 3 BB) (1-5) took the loss for the Rams.
