NORTH EAST, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's golf team shot a first round total of 317 to rank 12th in a 14-team field at the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational at the Lake View Country Club on Friday. Gannon shot a 282 to take the first round lead. The Shepherd women carded a 381 to tie for ninth place in an 11-team field. The Gannon women shot a 313 to take the first round lead.
Freshman Morgan Dehoff (Rohersville, Md./Boonsboro) led the Rams with a 73 to tie for ninth place. He was followed by senior Chris Neighbors (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (76, T-20th), freshman Nop Satijavitisarn (Yannawa Bankok, Thailand/International Community School) and freshman Trey Rios (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) each shot an 84 to tie for 72nd, and freshman Luke Davis (Clear Brook, Va./James Wood) fired an 87 to tie for 81st.
Freshman Sara Veara (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs) led the Rams with an 89 to tie for 24th place. She was followed by sophomore Olivia Rosick (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove) (91, T-31st), junior Amanda Deener (Middletown, Md./Frederick Christian Academy Homeschool Umbrella Program) (96, T-44th), junior Ciara Scafide (Knoxville, Md./Brunswick) (105,T-58th), and junior Ashlyn Parker (Berryville, Va./Clearfield/Elmhurst) (117, 67th).
The Rams return to action on Saturday for final round action.
