SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's cross country team finished ninth in a nine-team field and women's team placed seventh in a seven-team field at the Galen Piper XC Invitational at Shippensburg on Friday night. Host Shippensburg won the men's 6K race and the women's 4K race.
The men were led by freshman Parker Mackey (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman) who finished 61st with a time of 22:09.6.He was followed by sophomore Noah Cupp (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) (68th, 22:37.2), sophomore James Burdock (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) (71st, 22:58.1), senior Stephen Rivera (Kearneysville, W.Va./Home Schooled) (76th, 23:35.3), freshman Nick Yankle (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) (80th, 23:58.3), freshman Aiden Sensabaugh (Keyser, W.Va./Frankfort) (81st, 24:04.2), and sophomore Jonathan Weller (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills) (85th, 25:12.1).
The women were led by freshman Margarita Salvador (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) who finished 70th with a time of 20:21.2. She was followed by sophomore Janette Salvador (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) (72nd, 21:11.9), senior Mahayana Garcia (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) (73rd, 21:24.8), junior Kayla Austin (Herndon, Va./Westfield) (77th, 24.44.8), and senior Anna Berwanger (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) (78th, 32:08.4).
The Rams return to action on Sept. 16 when they travel to the DII/DIII Challenge at Kutztown.
