SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Shepherd University (1-1-2) battled to a 1-1 tie with Slippery Rock (1-2-1) in men's soccer action at Slippery Rock on Saturday. 

The Rock took a 1-0 lead into the break when Arturo Hernandis scored on a pass from Ramses Minaya at the 27:21 mark. 

Shepherd tied the game when junior midfielder Emmett Hartman (Charleston, W.Va./Capital) scored an unassisted goal at the 77:55 mark. 

Senior netminder Billy Wood (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) recorded five saves for the Rams. Hossam Aly posted four saves for Slippery Rock. 

Slippery Rock had a 13-9 advantage in shots with a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Corner kicks were even at six apiece. 

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Millersville for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
