SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (8-1) dropped a four-set match to Indiana University of Pennsylvania (6-1) in volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Tuesday night. The Crimson Hawks posted a 25-12, 25-14, 23-25, 25-14 win.
Senior outside hitter Kiara Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) had nine kills and senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) added seven to lead the Rams.
Freshman setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colo./Chaparral) contributed 24 assists, while redhirt-sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) had 10 digs and three aces.
IUP was led by Nicole Peterson with 18 kills and nine digs. Lauren Valentic had eight kills and six blocks, while Leah Henderson contributed 46 assists.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host California (Pa.) for a 7 p.m. match at the Butcher Center.
