WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Michelle Kozicki had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead West Chester (11-7, 8-4 PSAC) to a 94-47 win over Shepherd University (0-17, 0-12 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at West Chester on Monday night.
Sophomore guard Jordan Carr (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) led the Rams with eight points. She was 3-of-8 from the floor with a 2-for-3 effort from the foul line.
Freshman guard Peyton Grant (Plymouth, Maine/Dexter Regional), sophomore guard/forward Sydney Bolles (Elkview, W.Va./Charleston Catholic), and junior guard Madison Mertz (Maugansville, Md./North Hagerstown) each added six points. Mertz also grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
Leah Johnson had 17 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and four steals for the Golden Rams. Anna McTamney and Emily McAteer each added 12 points.
West Chester had a 48-31 advantage at halftime.
Shepherd shot 29.4 percent (15-51) from the floor with a 30 percent (6-20) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit on 78.6 percent (11-14) of their free throws.
West Chester shot 51.4 percent (38-74) from the floor with a 40 percent (10-25) from three-point range. The Golden Rams shot 57.1 percent (8-14) from the foul line.
West Chester had a 48-26 rebounding edge. The Rams forced four turnovers and committed 17.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Shippensburg for a 6 p.m. contest.
