SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University head football coach Ernie McCook recently announced that Bryan Murray has been named defensive line coach for the Rams. Murray replaces Lavern Belin, who resigned to take a similar position at Towson University.
Murray comes to Shepherd after serving as the defensive line coach at Maine in 2022.
Murray served as the defensive line coach at Slippery Rock University from 2019-2021. He was instrumental in the development of four All-Conference, three All-Region, and two All-American defensive linemen. He helped lead Slippery Rock to a 13-1 mark in 2019 and an appearance in the national semifinals. The Rock earned a sixth place finish in the final 2019 AFCA poll.
Prior to working at Slippery Rock, Murray served as a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Cincinnati under head coach Luke Fickell.
Murray was a three-year letterwinner and served as a team captain as a senior at Boston College. He holds three degrees from Boston College. He received dual bachelor's degrees in human development and economics with a minor in sociology in 2011. Murray added a master's degree in applied developmental educational psychology in 2013.
