WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Shepherd University golf teams completed first-round action at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invite at the Penn Oaks Golf Club on Monday. The men fired a 318 to rank fifth in an eight-team field. The women shot a 376 to rank ninth in an 11-team field.
Senior Chris Neighbors (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) fired a 76 to tie for 14th place to lead the men. He was followed by freshman Morgan Dehoff (Rohrersville, Md./Boonsboro) (78, T-19th), freshman Joey Leisinger (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) (81, T-29th), freshman Nop Satijavitisarn (Yannawa Bangkok, Thailand/International Community School) (83, 36th), and freshman Trey Rios (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) (85, T-39th).
Freshman Sara Veara (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs) led the women with an 81 to rank in third place. She was followed by sophomore Olivia Rosick (Purcellville, Va./Woodgrove (93, 31st), junior Amanda Deener (Middletown, Md./Frederick Christian Academy Homeschool Umbrella Program) (98, T-42nd), and junior Ciara Scafide (Knoxville, Md./Brunswick) (104,51st).
The teams return to action on Tuesday for final round action.
