SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University dropped a pair of tennis matches to Bloomsburg in PSAC tennis action at Shepherd on Saturday. The men's team dropped a 4-3 decision, while the women came up short on a 6-1 decision.
Sophomore Sebastian Sevilla (Ambato, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Atenas) and junior Yuto Shimotsuji (Osaka, Japan/Naniwa/Campbellsville) picked up singles wins for the men. Sevilla and Shimotsuji teamed for a 6-2 win at number one doubles, while junior Nicholas Espinoza (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Aleman Humboldt/Iowa Central Community College) and sophomore Fabian Telschow (Schriesheim, Germany/Kurpfalz-Gymnasium-Schriesheim) grabbed a 6-1 win at number two doubles.
Junior Marketa Beladova (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic/Iowa Central Community College) recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win at number one singles for the women. She also teamed with freshman Ximena Bolanos Tellez (Mineral de la Reforma, Mexico Colegio Makarenko) for a 6-4 triumph at number one doubles.
The men drop to 3-11 overall, 0-7 in PSAC action, while the women move to 2-13 overall, 0-7 in PSAC play.
The women return to action on Monday when they host East Stroudsburg for a 3 p.m. match.
