Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Quintet Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Five members of the Shepherd University women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® At-Large Team. Junior midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), junior attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep),  junior midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion), junior defender Summer Vorsteg (Bishopville, Md./Stephen Decatur), and sophomore attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) were honored. 

Stoner boasts a 4.0 grade point average as a nursing major. She appeared and started in all 17 games. She recorded 19 goals and a team-best 19 assists for 38 points. Stoner established a Shepherd single-season mark with 63 ground balls. She also added a team-best 73 draw controls and a team-best 33 caused turnovers. 

Lassahn boasts a 3.83 grade point average as a nursing major.  She appeared and started in 15 games. Lassahn recorded 10 goals and six assists for 16 points. She added 20 ground balls, 19 draw controls, and four caused turnovers  

Edwards boasts a 3.58 grade point average as a nursing major. She appeared and started in all 17 games. Edwards garnered All-PSAC East second team honors as she led the team in goals (35) and points (42). She added 33 draw controls, 32 ground balls, and 17 caused turnovers. 

Vorsteg boasts a 3.91 grade point average as a nursing major. She appeared in 16 games with 15 starts. Vorsteg recorded 14 ground balls, nine caused turnovers, and a draw control. 

King boasts a 3.78 grade point average as a health promotion and exercise science major. She appeared and started in 10 games. King recorded 18 goals and five assists for 23 points. She added 12 ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and a draw control. 

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 22.
